Primary Function

Under the direction of the Lead Carpenter and team, the Apprentice Carpenter is responsible for assisting in job construction by performing all carpentry labor on the job, requesting help as it is needed, and maintaining job site safety. Your performance is extremely important to the success of our company. You are a representative of both the client and the community at large. We get most of our work because of our reputation and you are an especially important part of that reputation. Both the quality of your work and the appearance of your jobsite are a strong reflection on you and the company.

Major Responsibilities

1. Carpentry and Construction Labor
2. Customer Satisfaction
3. Jobsite support, protection, and cleanliness
4. Installing a job sign in the most prominent place possible and for maintaining its condition
5. On-site material hauling and protection
6. Dust protection of the client’s property
7. Mud control on jobsites
8. Lock and secure jobsite at the end of each day
9. Project coordination with assigned Project Manager

Skills & Experience

  • Proficient use of all tools per mid-level Carpenter requirements (Router, chop saw, finish carpentry tools)
  • Able to layout for cutting roof, floor joists, floor & wall framing, stairs
  • Able to plumb, line and square framing
  • Layout with laser for level, square, and grades
  • Window installation with Company Waterproofing Procedure
  • Door installation
  • Ability to work independently
  • Able to complete task list in the order given
  • Basic plan reading ability, identify measurements, layout, ability to use a scale and identify basic scope of work.
  • Able to communicate with Lead Carpenter and Foreman
  • Basic knowledge of other trades
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English (Spanish is an asset)
  • Clean DMV record and valid Drivers license
  • Must provide own hand tools, tool bags per attached
  • Must provide own transportation to and from jobsite
  • Must know when shoring is required
